Don't tell my husband, but I've got a serious crush on someone else. Yeah, this new guy is short, red and got a funny name, but he brings me lots of satisfaction and lately is the big incentive for me to drag myself out of bed in the morning. But unless having coffee daily is cheating, I don't think my husband minds at all.
One of my biggest laments about small town living is the lack of "real" coffee. After working for a Seattle based company and developing a serious Starbucks addiction, I moved to a rural town where the nearest real coffee shop is 100+ miles away. I had tried make at home substitutions, but nothing held up... and instead I started twitching like an addict the moment I see a familiar coffee shop logo on my travels.
However the last few weeks I've finally found a home solution to my coffee problem. I've had the wonderful opportunity try out the Keurig MINI Plus Brewing System which allows you to brew a perfect cup of coffee, tea, hot cocoa or iced beverage in under two minutes at the touch of a button.
This personal sized brewer offers a choice of 3 cup sizes (6 oz., 8 oz. and 10 oz.) and has a single-use water reservoir that drains automatically into the drip tray if you put too much water in. It's got a handy energy savings mode that automatically turns it off after 90 seconds, and with only a single button, it's pretty easy to figure out and get your daily coffee fix on.
I've been trying this out for a couple weeks now and I'm totally addicted. While it may not be handy for pot a day drinkers,if you're looking for something to make a cup or two of amazing coffee shop quality coffee, this little personal brewer is perfect to get your morning caffeine fix. It's the perfect size for a home coffee cup, or move the tray to fit a short travel mug to take to work or on the go like I do. For those of us who don't function well before caffeine, operation is simple. You just add fresh water, insert a handy K-Cup® portion pack, brew and enjoy. There's no measuring coffee, messing with filters and it brews in just 2 minutes, so by the time you go grab your shoes and coat, you're ready to put a lid on your mug and head out the door.
The packaging (or actually the lack there of) was one of the things that impressed me about this product. We receive a lot of products that take knives, scissors and an hour's worth of labor to unhook, unravel and open. My new Keurig came in beautiful, and very minimal packaging that slid right out of the box. I was able to open, plug in and brew in minutes and the user materials are gorgeously designed and informative. I also loved that this came with a small box of Keurig K-Cups so that I could try it out immediately without having to make a special trip to the store. This is a huge plus if you're considering getting this cool coffeemaker for someone on your holiday shopping list. The price for the K-Cups is higher than if you're brewing by the pot, but is still only a fraction if you're getting your daily coffee to-go at a shop or restaurant. This would also make a great investment for anyone looking to cut their daily coffee shop expenses in 2012 by brewing at home.
